Managing your anxieties should be prioritized as it is a part of self-care. Not only do we have to take care of ourselves physically, but we must also cater to our mental needs. Our emotions are much like an inner child needing attention, guidance, and nurturing. When we neglect our mental needs when they need our undivided attention, they have the potential to become turbulent and out of control. Then we sit back and wonder why we reacted in such a negative light. The reason derives from our pinned up daily frustrations taking a ticket number and waiting in line to be tended to. There aren’t many resources needed to relieve your stress levels, and there are multiple natural ways to woo-sah in the comfort of your own home. Here are 3 natural ways you can relieve your anxiety today.
Try some breathwork
If this is your first time hearing about breathwork to relieve anxiety, I have a few tips. Don’t focus so much on the inhaling. According to Healthline, it’s better to focus on exhaling as it’s linked to the parasympathetic nervous system, which influences our body’s ability to relax and calm down. Count along how many seconds are being used to inhale and exhale. Heathline suggests lengthening your exhale and avoiding taking too many deep breaths too quickly as it can cause hyperventilation. By slowing your breathing, you are naturally lowering your blood pressure and heart rate. Every breath helps to alleviate anxiety and will have you feeling more at ease.
Get all of your hours of sleep
Every hour of sleep is precious, and your body and mind needs this resting period to recharge. There is a sleepy study that monitors the brain activity when the subject is having a sleepless night. The medial prefrontal cortex, the region of the brain that affects emotions, decision-making, and long-term memory becomes affected. It’s deactivated during a night of tossing and turning causing a person’s anxiety to worsen. According to Medical News Today, a sleepless night increases anxiety levels to 30 percent. Be selfish with your sleep hours and get at least 7 to 9 hours of sleep for natural anxiety relief.
Make time for exercise
Imagine if you consistently used exercise to release all of your pinned up stress. That means that on a daily basis, you are doing the mental and physical work to battle anxiety. Even as little as 15 minutes of exercise at your own pace and intensity level will significantly reduce stress. Any form of physical activity will improve the state of your mental health.
