The Benefits of Drinking Raspberry Leaf Tea



Raspberry leaf tea is loaded with nutrients and has medicinal uses especially for women. Next time you are feeling off and need a pick me up during your cycle drink this tea. There are women that drink this tea a week before their period starts for a better menstrual experience. There are numerous ailments that benefit women when implementing raspberry leaf tea into your diet.


Raspberry leaf tea is known to aid menstrual cramps before and during the tough time of your cycle. Premenstrual symptoms such as cramping, diarrhea, vomiting and nausea are significantly reduced with the use of raspberry leaf tea. According to Healthline, the leaves specifically contain “fragarine”, a plant compound that helps to tighten muscles in the pelvic area which may reduce the menstrual cramping caused by the spasms of these muscles. It’s suggested that pregnant women drinking this tea during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters to aid with morning sickness.


This tea is also known to shorten labor. That plant compound that strengthens the muscles in the pelvis includes the walls of the uterus, making delivery smoother. Studies have shown that raspberry leaf tea has shortened the first or second half of labor making the experience more bearable. In this study, 192 women that took raspberry leaf tea had a shorter second stage of labor by 9.59 minutes.


Raspberry leaf tea may reduce complications and interferences during childbirth. For the women that consumed this tea during the last 8 weeks of pregnancy, there was an 11 percent decrease in the use of forceps during birth. All in all, red raspberry leaf tea may help strengthen the uterine walls, decrease labor time and reduce the use of birthing interventions.
